KANE – John Bizzak and Tyler Bizzak combined to drive in four runs, and Zach Anderson threw a complete-game four-hitter to lead Kane to an 8-2 win over defending District 9 champion Johnsonburg in the District 9 Class A baseball quarterfinals Friday afternoon in Kane.

 

John Bizzak was 2-for-4 with a home run, while Tyler Bizzak was 1-for-3 with a double for the  third-seeded Wolves, who took control of the game early with three runs in the first and two in the second.

 

Those five early runs were more than enough for Anderson. The senior allowed just two earned runs on the four hits and three walks while striking out five.

 

Seth Streich led 11th seeded Johnsonburg, the PIAA runner-up a year ago, going 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Andy Benson was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Rams.

 

Craig Carrow took the loss lasting just 1 1/3 innings and allowing five runs, all earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out two. Seth Peterson went the final 4 2/3 for the Rams allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk while striking out three.

 

Kane will now take on second-seeded Cameron County in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Marys’ Berwind Park..
