WARREN – Led by their three senior tri-captains – Ryan LaBrozzi, Ben Lanich and Tommy Taylor – the Bradford Owls picked up a road victory 73-57 Wednesday night over the Warren Dragons.

LaBrozzi posted a double-double for Bradford (2-1) with 23 points and 13 rebounds while also dishing out six assists.

“Ryan was a dominant force for us tonight,” Bradford head coach Dave Fuhrman said. “He scored, he rebounded and he passed the ball very well.”

LaBrozzi had plenty of help, as Lanich, the Owls 6-foot-5 center, scored 17 points and hauled in eight rebounds despite being in early foul trouble.

“Ben owned the paint,” Fuhrman said. “He did a good job in the second half of playing defense without fouling. We have to have him on the floor for us to be successful.”

Taylor, Bradford’s point guard, also stepped up his offensive game with 13 points including two three-pointers while going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

“We are asking Tommy to be more of an offensive threat this year,” Fuhrman said. “It was a great to see him shoot the ball with confidence. If he can do, it only makes us that much better offensively as a team.”

Warren was led by sophomore Charlie Thompson with 17 points, and senior point guard Jeff Eaton chipped in with 12.

“Warren has a young team but has some talented young players that are only going to get better with more experience,” Fuhrman said.

Bradford is off until Tuesday when it has a huge District 9 League opener with perennial power Elk County Catholic in Bradford.
