ST. MARYS – Freshman guard Kayla Ho’ohuli recorded a triple-double including a career-high 37 points to help St. Marys to a 64-44 win over visiting Johnsonburg in non-conference girls’ basketball action Monday night.

Ho’ohuli added 10 rebounds and 11 steals while hitting 14 shots, including a 3-pointer, and making 8 of 14 free throws. The 37 points are the most by a District 9 girls’ player this season tie for the second most points by a girls’ player in District 9 in the past four years (Punxsutawney’s Lauren Martino also scored 37 last season, while Venango Catholic’s Sarah McNellie had 41 a year ago in double overtime).

Johnsonburg (0-1) actually led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter, but St. Marys outscored the Ramettes 18-7 in the second frame to take a 32-22 lead before a 21-4 third quarter advantage blew the game wide open.

Mandy Stinchcomb had nine assists and six steals to go with four points for St. Marys (2-0).

Abby Grumley paced Johnsonburg with 17 points
