COUDERSPORT – The formula for the Coudersport Falcons is simple: get the ball to John Hau and Blair Heimel.

The two seniors combined for 50 points Friday evening, as Coudersport moved its mark to 10-0 on the season with a 74-57 victory over Northern Potter in the championship game of the Coudersport Holiday Tournament.

It was all Heimel in the first half for Coudersport, as the senior scored 18 of his game-high 26 points in the half helping the Falcons to a 38-26 halftime lead.

Hau took over in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter. He scored 12 of his 24 points in the final frame helping the Falcons withstand a second-half comeback attempt by Northern Potter.

Thanks to eight points from Kal McCaslin in the third quarter, Northern Potter (8-2) cut the 12-point halftime deficit to 50-47 at the end of the third quarter.

Still down three, 52-49, early in the fourth quarter, the Panthers missed three opportunities to cut the lead even farther, and Coudersport then went on a 9-0 run to put the game away and end Northern Potter’s 8-game winning streak..

McCaslin led Northern Potter with 24 points, while Kellen Warriner added 12 and Evan Warriner 11.

Colton Corey chipped in with 14 points for Coudersport.

Both teams start Northern Tier League play Thursday with Coudersport hosting Austin and Northern Potter visiting Smethport.

NOTES – McCaslin was named the Best Offensive Player at the tournament, while Coudersport’s Derek Burdick was chosen the Best Defensive Player. Heimel and Hau were both named to the All-Tournament team along with Northern Potter’s Derek Erway, Eisenhower’s Cody Crosby and Cowanesque Valley’s David Clark.
