|
|
By Rich Quiggle ST. MARYS – The Elk County Catholic Crusaders
made quick work of the Ridgway Elkers in the semifinals of the Elk County Holiday Tournament Friday night jumping
out to a 32-6 halftime lead en route to a 59-18 drubbing of the Elkers. Logan Haberberger (8 points), Alan Agosti (6 points) and Nate Higgins (6 points) put the Crusaders
up to stay in the first half. Add to that five other Crusaders finding the net in the half, and ECC put away the
game early. In the third quarter, ECC added 23 more and then just played four corners in the final period
allowing head coach Aaron Straub to clear his bench. Haberberger finished with a game-high 15 points and Higgins added 10. Matt Bauer chipped in
seven and Keil Nissel added a pair of three's to account for his six points for ECC. Hudson Rees was the bright spot for the Elkers with 12 points. Nate Maddalena added five. NOTES – ECC now advances to the title game at 8 p.m. Saturday where it meets St. Marys, a 55-50
winner over Johnsonburg. The Crusaders are looking for their fifth straight Elk County Tournament title and their
11 in the past 13 years. St. Marys is in search of its first since 1998. ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 59, RIDGWAY 18 Score by Quarters Ridgway 2 4 9 3 – 18 ECC 17 15 23 4 – 59 Ridgway – 18 Hribik 0-0-0-0 , Roebuck 0-0-0-0 , Reed 0-0-0-0 , Gaffey 0-0-0-0 , Rees 5-0-0-12 , Marnatti 0-0-0-0
