SHINGLEHOUSE – In one of the longest overtime games in recent memory involving a District 9 team, Portville (NY) beat Oswayo Valley 64-61 in four overtimes Friday night at Oswayo Valley. The game was tied at 46 at the end of regulation, 51 at the end of the first overtime, 55 at the end of the second overtime and 57 at the end of the third overtime before Portville outscored Oswayo Valley 7-4 in the fourth overtime. The four extra sessions are the longest in District 9 in the D9Sports.com era (2000-01-present) when records started to be kept. Coby Sebastian led Oswayo Valley with 23 points while Joe Carson added 13. Bubba Spehar led Portville with 16 points, Jeremy Reynolds added 15 and Adam Sullivan 13. NOTES – It was the 22nd multiple overtime boys’ basketball game involving a District 9 team since the 2000-01 season but the first to go more than two overtimes … Portville could have possibly ended the game sooner if it would have hit free throws. The Panthers shot 39.3 percent (11 of 28) from the line. Oswayo Valley was 6 of 9 from the charity stripe.
