|
|
By Rich Quiggle St. MARYS – Elk County Catholic built a 25-6 halftime lead and never looked back on its way to a
49-22 win over Ridgway in the semifinals of the Elk County Holiday Tournament Friday night at St. Marys High
School. The easy victory allowed ECC head coach Ken Pistner to get all 13 of his players into the game, and
nine of them scored. The Lady Crusaders (10-0) used a balanced scoring attack in the first half with seven girls
recording points led by Kirstie Pistner's seven tallies. ECC was sluggish in the first quarter and led 8-2 at the end of the frame but used a 17-0 run in
the second quarter to push the lead to 25-2 before the Lady Elkers added two buckets just before the half to cut
the lead to 19. Pistner lead all scorers with 11 for ECC. Kaitlyn Geci and Nikki Gaton each added seven. Emily Mitchell topped the scoring list for Ridgway dropping in six. NOTES – ECC will take on undefeated St. Marys (10-0) for the girls’ title at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday. The Lady Crusaders are the 3-time defending tournament champions. Ridgway will meet Johnsonburg in the
consolation game at 3 p.m. Saturday. ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 49, RIDGWAY 22 Scoring 1 2
