Derrick WEST SUNBURY – Behind seven overtime points from back-up guard Marco Lopez, visiting Clarion-Limestone outscored Moniteau 10-6 in overtime to get a 79-75 KSAC boys’ basketball victory Friday night. Lopez, only a sophomore, finished with a career-high 17 points while adding five assists helping the Lions (6-5 overall, 5-3 KSAC) withstand the loss of four starters to either injury or fouls in regulation. C.J. Hesdon led C-L with 21 points including three in overtime. Moniteau (3-8, 2-6) lost despite getting monster games from both Josh Loos and Tyler Armagost. Loos scored a career-high 39 points while adding 24 rebounds, and Armagost recorded a triple-double with 22 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Loos’ 39 points are the most in a game in District 9 this season and marked the second time this season Loos has scored 30 or more points. But it was the points Loos and Armagost didn’t score that cost Moniteau. Loos missed 10 of 13 free throws, and Armagost failed to connect on 13 of his 19 charity shots. That poor foul shooting couldn’t off-set a balanced C-L attack. Ryan Raybuck added 14 points and 11 rebounds before leaving with an injury in the third quarter. Adam Plucinski chipped in with 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Jaye Dulavitch added 10 boards. C-L returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Venango Catholic at 6:30 p.m., while Moniteau is at Clarion at 6 p.m. Tuesday. NOTES – Loos 39 points are the eighth most by a KSAC player since the 2000-01 season and tied for the 17th most in District 9 since 2000-01. His 39 points are also the most at Moniteau in that time frame bettering the previous mark of 37 set by Tyler Grossman Dec. 3, 2005. |
