| Blose reaches 1,000 career points for Redbank Valley | |
|
WEST SUNBURY – Lacey Blose became the sixth girls’ basketball player at Redbank Valley to record 1,000 career points when she passed the milestone Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Lady Bulldogs from being upset 49-47 by homestanding Moniteau. Blose, who needed 20 points coming into the night, scored 22 reaching 1,000 on a 3-pointer in the final seconds. She finished the night with 1,002, the fifth most in school history. She is the first Redbank Valley player to go over 1,000 since Amy Hepler did so in 2004, and she is just the third player to reach 1,000 in the past 10 years joining Hepler (1,105) and Jen Duhnke (1,001), who reached 1,000 on the final shot of her career. But Blose’s efforts weren’t enough to overcome the play of Moniteau point guard Maura McCaslin, who scored 16 points in helping the Squaws (3-7 overall, 2-3 KSAC-West) to the upset of the Lady Bulldogs (7-4, 2-4 KSAC-East). Kim Goth chipped in with 10 points for Redbank Valley. |
