FOXBURG – A-C Valley withstood an early 9-0 deficit and upset Karns City 51-41 in KSAC boys’ basketball action Thursday night at A-C Valley. Karns City (9-5 overall, 8-3 KSAC East), the fifth ranked team in the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 rankings, looked like it was going to run away with the game early on bolting out to the 9-0 lead. But A-C Valley (5-10, 3-7) went on a 20-11 run to tie the game at 20 in the second quarter before taking a 23-22 halftime lead. “That was our best defensive game of the year so far,” A-C Valley head coach Jim Marron said. The Falcons showed a glimpse of the future with freshmen Allan Eaton and Blayne McGuirk combining to score 28 points including 18 from Eaton, a 6-foot-5 forward. Senior Nate Silvis added 13 tallies for A-C Valley. Cory Terwilliger and Matt McConnell led Karns City with nine points each, and Mike McConnell added eight. Leading scorer Cameron Turner, however, was limited to three points and didn’t make a field goal for the Gremlins.
