FRANKLIN – And then there was one.

Behind 24 points from Kyle Rhoads, Keystone knocked Rocky Grove from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 63-43 road win in KSAC West boys’ basketball action Friday night.

With the Rocky Grove’s loss, only Coudersport’s boys’ team (14-0) remains unbeaten in District 9.

Rhoads scored 11 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter, as Keystone (12-2 overall, 9-2 KSAC West) pulled away from Rocky Grove (12-1, 9-1) in the quarter.

The Orioles, who entered the game ranked fourth in the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 rankings, trailed by six, 35-29, entering the fourth quarter. But between Rhoads and Cristian Summerville, who hit his only two 3-pointers of the game in the final eight minutes, Keystone pulled away to get back within a game of Rocky Grove for first place in the KSAC West.

Rocky Grove led early, 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Keystone rallied to take a 21-19 halftime lead. The Panthers then extended that lead by outscoring Rocky Grove 14-10 in the third quarter.

Brock Witkowski added 16 points for the Panthers, while Summerville had nine.

Andrew Setzkorn paced Rocky Grove with a season-high 16 points, but Keystone contained the Orioles two big threats in seniors Cruz Mietus and Ethan Gravatt.

Gravatt entered the game ranked ninth in District 9 in scoring at 18.3 ppg but was limited to a season-low 10 by the Panthers.

Mietus, meanwhile, was 15th in D9 in scoring at 15.9 ppg, but managed just five, also a season low, vs. Keystone. In fact, Mietus has scored just 14 points in his last two games.

NOTES – Rocky Grove, which usually wins the battle of 3-pointers, hit just four against Keystone, while the Panthers nailed nine triples … Rhoads has been hot of late averaging 17.8 ppg in his last four contests. The senior entered the game just out of the Top 30 in D9 in scoring at 13.2 ppg but upped his average to 14.0 ppg with the 24-point night … The two teams rematch Jan. 30 at Keystone.
