RIMERSBURG – Behind 24 points and nine steals and three assists from Lacey Blose, Redbank Valley upset fourth-ranked Union 42-39 Monday night at Union.

Redbank Valley (8-5 overall, 3-5 KSAC) built a 26-17 halftime lead behind the strength of an 11-6 second-quarter advantage but watched Union (9-3, 6-2), which is ranked fourth overall in District 9 and third in Class A in the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 rankings close to within five points in after three quarters (38-33).

Nadia Kundick also reached double digits for Redbank Valley, which had lost two straight coming into the game, with 10 points, while Kim Goth had six steals and six rebounds.

Union, which saw its 3-game win streak halted, had trouble finding the net all night, and only three Golden Damsels scored. Courtney Frederick led the way with 15 points, and Torri Smith and Tina Lipps had 12 each.

Redbank Valley is back in action Wednesday at West Forest while Union returns to play Wednesday at Cranberry.
