City Derrick KARNS CITY – With 24 points in Karns City’s 64-33 win over visiting A-C Valley Friday night, Lady Gremlin senior point guard Allyson Kepple became the sixth player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points. Kepple, who entered the game as the 13th leading scorer in District 9 this season (13.9 ppg), came into the game needing 23 points to reach 1,000-point mark and reached it on a layup in the fourth quarter. Kepple had an all-around strong game for Karns City (9-6 overall, 6-4 KSAC East) adding eight steals and four rebounds while helping the Lady Gremlins stay within a game of first-place Union and Clarion in the KSAC East. In all, four Karns City players reached double figures with Ashley Campbell adding 12 points, Kyle Rankin 11 and Maureen McGreevy 10. Erika Rothen and Erin Larimore led A-C Valley (0-12, 0-10 KSAC West) with seven points each, and Maryellen Busch continued her strong play on the boards with 13 more rebounds. Elizabeth Whitmer is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,496 points in a career that ended in 1987. Allyson Kepple should move into fifth-place in school history in scoring next week. Gina Andreassi (1989) currently holds the spot with 1,021 points ... Allyson Kepple is the fifth District 9 girls' basketball player to reach 1,000 career points this year and the second this week joining Coudersport's Kristy Kamper, who scored her 1,000th point Wednesday.
