SHEFFIELD – Sheffield’s Amanda Craker had a monster game Monday night with 29 points and 27 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to overcome a balanced effort from Elk County Catholic, as the top ranked Lady Crusaders held off homestanding Sheffield 66-57 in AML girls’ basketball action Monday night.

ECC (16-1 overall, 7-0 AML North), ranked No. 1 in District 9 in the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com rankings, had four players in double figures to off-set the career night by Craker.

Abby Salter led the Lady Crusaders, who led 35-26 at halftime, with 19 points, Kirstie Pistner added 18 points, Bre Grimone 15 and Emily Detsch 10.

Sheffield got 14 points from Tess Vargas and eight points and six assists from Kesha Silvis, but Craker was the star hitting 13 shots and 3 of 4 free throws on her way to career highs in both points and rebounds. The 29 points are the most by a Lady Wolverine since Sheffield entered District 9 in 2005, while the 27 rebounds are the most reported in District 9 in at least the last two seasons.
