ST. MARYS – Bradford boys’ basketball coach Dave Fuhrman joined a fairly exclusive club Tuesday night when his team gave him win No. 300 83-46 at St. Marys. Fuhrman, who is in his 18th season at Bradford, has a career record of 300-155 (.659) and including 10-3 in District 9 title games. The Owls have won the last two D9 Class AAA titles and seven of the last eight. He is one of four active District 9 coaches with 300 wins joining Elk County Catholic’s Aaron Straub (576-167 in 26 years as a boys’ coach; 603-188 in 28 years as both boys’ and girls’ coach), Keystone’s Greg Heath (451-169 in 24 years a boys’ coach) and West Forest’s Bob Wachob (427-223 in 29 years a girls’ coach). “I’ve been fortunate to have coached a lot of very good players over the years including some on this team,” Fuhrman said. “The most important ingredient of a successful program is good players. You can lose with good players, but you can’t win without them. My staff, my family and our school administration and community have been very supportive of our efforts. I’m very proud of the basketball program we’ve built here at Bradford.” This year’s Owls (14-6 overall, 9-1 D9 League) made sure their coach would leave St. Marys with 300 wins shooting a blistering 62 percent from the field for the game and jumping out to a 21-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Ryan LaBrozzi got the Owls off to the past start scoring 15 of the Owls’ 21 first-quarter points on his way to his ninth double-double of the year with 24 points and 10 rebounds. “Ryan got us started, and we took off from there,” Fuhrman said. Ben Lanich added his 12th double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, as the Owls dominated the glass outrebounding St. Marys 43-16. Senior forward Randy Confer was also in double figures for Bradford with 15 points, and 12 Owls players in all got into the scoring column. Matt Guido and Jon Petrocchi led St. Marys (8-12, 2-8) with 11 points each, while Levi Welder added 10 points. BRADFORD 83, ST. MARYS 46 Score by Quarters Bradford 21
