SECOND ANNUAL D9SPORTS.COM DISTRICT 9 PRE-SEASON GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ALL-DISTRICT TEAM NAMED

SHIPPENVILLE – Led by the leading returning scorer in District 9 Rayna Valenti of Austin, five players are members of the second annual D9Sports.com District 9 Pre-season Girls’ All-District basketball team.

Joining Valenti, a senior, on the team are fellow seniors Kristy Kamper of Coudersport and Diana Phalon of Smethport and sophomores Sam Schwabenbauer of Keystone and Geena Sneeringer of West Forest. A breakdown of the players in alphabetical order by school follows.

RAYNA VALENTI – SR., G – AUSTIN

Valenti, who was a second-team All American Awards & Engraving D9Sports.com District 9 selection last season, was the leading scorer in the North Tier League and the second leading scorer in District 9 at 18.3 ppg. She added 3.1 rpg, 4.0 apg, 2.0 spg and hit 34 3-pointers while leading the Panthers to the District 9 Class A playoffs. She enters her senior season with 735 career points (unofficial).

KRISTY KAMPER – SR., F, COUDERSPORT

Kamper, who was a first-team All American Awards & Engraving D9Sports.com District 9 selection last season, was the 11th leading scorer in District 9 a year ago (15.0 ppg) while helping the Lady Falcons to the North Tier League championship, a second-place finish in District 9 Class A and a berth in the PIAA Class A playoffs. She added 7.2 rpg, 5.1 spg, 4.0 apg and 2.5 bpg while scoring 20 or more points five times including a career-high 35 points. She enters her senior season with 756 career points (unofficial).

SAM SCHWABENBAUER – SO., F, KEYSTONE

Schwabenbauer, who was the All American Awards & Engraving D9Sports.com District 9 Co-Girls’ Rookie of the Year as well as a third-team All-District selection, was the leading scorer for Keystone, which finished 17-10 and won the KSAC-West while finishing second in the KSAC and reaching the District 9 Class A quarterfinals. She tied for 19th in District 9 in scoring (12.9 ppg) while adding 6.1 rpg, 2.7 spg and 1.3 apg. She scored 20 or more points three times with a season-high of 25 and 15 or more points 10 times.  

DIANA PHALON – SR., G, SMETHPORT

Phalon, who was a second-team All American Awards & Engraving D9Sports.com District 9 selection last season and a third-team choice in 2006, ranked eighth in District 9 in scoring a year ago and second in the NTL (15.9 ppg) while adding 5.4 apg and 61 3-pointers. She was also an 82 percent free-throw shooter and enters her senior season with 935 career points.

GEENA SNEERINGER – SO., G – WEST FOREST

Sneeringer, who was the All American Awards & Engraving D9Sports.com District 9 Co-Girls’ Rookie of the Year as well as a third-team All-District selection, led all D9 freshmen in scoring a year ago and was tied for 14th in District 9 in scoring with 13.8 ppg. She added 7.9 rpg, 4.0 spg and 2.3 apg and scored 20 or more points six times including a season-high 31. She also had 11 games of 15 or more points.
