SOUTH BETHLEHEM – Colton Davis, 19, the son of Union boys’ basketball coach Karen Davis and her husband, Dana, died early Friday morning following a motorcycle crash in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County, just across the Armstrong-Clarion County boarders south of New Bethlehem. According to police reports and the Oil City Derrick, Davis was traveling north on Route 28/66 at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday when he failed to stop his motorcycle when a vehicle in front of him stopped to make a left turn. When he attempted to stop, according to state police in Clarion, his motorcycle brakes locked and the motorcycle turned onto its left side striking the back of a vehicle driven my Ryan Kunselman, 20, of Mayport. Davis, who was air lifted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburg with major injuries including massive head trauma, was pronounced dead at 1 a.m. Friday. Kunselman was not injured. According to the police report and the Oil City Derrick, Davis, a 2006 graduate of Union High School, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bradys Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the church, and interment will follow in Rimersburg Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. |
