AUSTIN – Whitney Crosby and Casey Stuckey combined for 43 points and 14 rebounds to lead fourth-seeded Austin to a 58-40 win over 13th-seeded Ridgway in the opening round of the District 9 Class A girls’ basketball playoffs Tuesday night at Austin.

Crosby scored a game-high 24 points while adding seven rebounds and four steals, and Stuckey had 19 points and seven boards for the Lady Panthers (21-2), who beat Ridgway (6-17) for the second time this season.

Austin led 31-22 at halftime and never looked back.

Hilary Gordiner added eight points and seven rebounds, and Kaitlyn Valenti had five rebounds, seven assists and two points for Austin.

Nicole Brier led Ridgway with 11 points, while the Lady Elkers also got eight points from Emily Mitchell and seven from Becca Leitzel.

Austin will now host fifth-seeded Johnsonburg, a 59-29 winner over East Forest, at 7 p.m. Thursday.
