CLEARFIELD – Parker Herrington, Matt Shiner and Jarrin Campman combined to score 59 points to lead Clearfield to a 74-48 win over three-time defending champion Bradford in the District 9 Class AAA boys’ semifinals Tuesday night at Clearfield.

Herrington and Shiner each scored 20 for the Bisons (21-2), who move in to the District 9 title game for second straight year. Campman added 19 while helping Clearfield avenge last year’s 63-37 loss to Bradford (12-11) in the title game.

Clearfield sprinted out to an 18-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and built that advantage to 32-21 at halftime before putting the game away by outscoring the Owls, who failed to reach the title game for just the second time in the last nine years, 23-14 in the third quarter.

Pug Fuhrman led Bradford with 15 points, while Ryan Mackey and Evan Kline each added 11 points.

Clearfield will play St. Marys in the title game at 3 p.m. Saturday at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym. The Bisons are looking for their first District 9 title since beating St. Marys 69-43 in 1999. The win also clinches a PIAA playoff spot for Clearfield for the second straight year.

NOTES – Bradford had won seven of the last eight District 9 titles. The last time the Owls failed to reach the title game was in 2005 when Clearfield upset them 49-22 in the semifinals. The Bisons lost to Punxsutawney in the title game that season.
