Derrick SHARON – Keystone, the No. 3 team out of District 9, battled District 10 champion and state ranked Kennedy Catholic hard before losing 40-30 in the opening round of the PIAA Class A boys’ basketball playoffs Friday night at Sharon High School. Keystone (23-4) led 13-7 at the end of one quarter and trailed 20-19 at halftime and 30-27 at the end of the third quarter before being outscored 10-3 in the final eight minutes. The Panthers didn’t score their first basket of the fourth quarter until a Brian Long 3-pointer with 57 seconds left in the game. Kyle Randall led all scorers with 16 points for Kennedy Catholic (23-2). Brock Witkowski and Dan Reed each had eight points for Keystone, with all eight of Witkowski’s coming in the first quarter.
