Brett Quiggle had 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals in St. Marys' win at Port Allegany Wednesday night.

PORT ALLEGANY – Brett Quiggle scored 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds, came away with five steals and hit two game-clinching free throws with 6.5 seconds left to lift St. Marys to a 55-52 win at Port Allegany Wednesday night.

The Dutch (3-0) trailed 49-48 with 2:56 to play but layups by Matt Guido and Quiggle put St. Marys up to stay, 53-50, with just over a minute to play.

St. Marys led 44-40 going to the fourth quarter after rallying from a 28-26 halftime deficit.

The Gators (1-1) had taken the halftime lead with a 15-9 spurt in the second quarter thanks to eight points from Greg Gustin, who finished with a game-high 26 points.

St. Marys had led 17-13 at the end of eight minutes thanks to three 3-pointers from Quiggle.

Guido added 14 points for St. Marys, while Levi Welder chipped in with 12. Bryce Healy added 10 points for Port Allegany.
