MARIENVILLE – Kelsey Rini scored 25 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to lead East Forest to a 47-35 win over visiting Karns City in the KSAC opener for both teams Tuesday night in Marienville.
Rini was 12 of 23 from the floor and added two steals and blocked shot to go with her 25 points and 22 boards. The 22 rebounds helped Rini set the school record for boards in a career. She now has 840 rebounds bettering the previous record of 833 set by Kelly Snyder.
Karns City, which shot just 16 percent (9 of 56) from the floor got 11 points from Taylor Kerschbaumer and 10 points from Ashley Campbell.
Ashley Oliver added 12 points for East Forest, which shot 20 of 53 from the field (37.7 percent).
East Forest jumped out to a 13-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 25-8 at halftime.
The Lady Bears are now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the KSAC-North, while Karns City falls to 0-3 and 0-1 in the KSAC-South.
