DUKE CENTER – Wayne Taylor bucketed a career-high 39 points to lead Otto-Eldred to a 72-53 win over Archbishop Walsh of Olean, NY, in the championship game of the Otto-Eldred Christmas Tournament Tuesday.

Taylor connected on 15 baskets, including a pair of two 3-pointers, while also going 7 of 10 from the free-throw line. The 39 points are the most by a North Tier League boys’ player in nearly seven years since Austin’s Tim Horton scored 47 Feb. 5, 2002. He is also the first Otto-Eldred player to score 30 points in a game since Tyler Ferguson bucketed 32 Dec. 17, 2004.

The Terrors (4-4) raced out to a 24-12 lead at the end of the first quarter that they built to 36-19 by halftime and cruised from there.

Preston Woods added 18 points for Otto-Eldred, including three 3-pointers.
