DUKE CENTER – Justine Wilkins and Jordan Beckwith combined to score 43 points to lead Otto-Eldred to a 67-47 win over Sheffield in the title game of the Otto-Eldred Christmas Tournament Tuesday.

Wilkins bucketed a game-high 23 points including three 3-pointers, while Beckwith had a career-high 20 points including four 3-pointers. As a team, Otto-Eldred (4-5) hit eight three-pointers and made 11 of 15 free throws.

Things started out well for Sheffield (2-6) with the Lady Wolverines jumping out to an 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

But Otto-Eldred caught fire in the second quarter outscoring Sheffield 20-6 to take a 31-24 halftime lead. That roll continued in the third quarter when the Lady Terrors used an 18-9 advantage to take a 49-33 lead into the final eight minutes.

Spryce York added eight points for Otto, which has won three straight after starting the season 1-5.

Amanda Craker had her fifth double-double of the season for Sheffield with 20 points and 10 rebounds while adding two blocked shots. Caryn Copley added 12 points for the Lady Wolverines, who have lost five of their last six.

NOTES – Beckwith had scored 57 points in Otto-Eldred’s first eight games before exploding for the 20 Tuesday night … Wilkins has now scored in double figures in four straight games and six times on the year with a high of 25 points … Craker has reached double digits in seven straight games and has scored at least 20 four times this year with a high of 26. It was also her fifth double-double of the season … The 67 points are a season-high for Otto-Eldred, which has scored at least 60 in each of its past three games after falling to score 60 in 63 straight games. The Lady Terrors put up 60 in a 60-54 win over Northern Potter Jan. 19, 2006, and then didn’t reach 60 again until a 63-34 over Oswayo Valley Dec. 23. In fact, the 67 tallies are the most for the Lady Terrors since they put up 70 in a 70-10 win over Tidioute Charter Dec. 28, 2005. The last time Otto-Eldred scored at least 60 points in a game at least three times in a season was in 2003-2004 when it reached at least 60 points seven times while going 18-9 and finishing fourth in District 9 Class A.
