RIMERSBURG – Lanae Cicciarelli scored 19 points to lead Union to its fifth win in a row 79-55 over visiting East Forest Friday night.

Cicciarelli hit eight shots including nailing 3 of 6 3-pointers and was one of four Golden Damsels (7-4 overall, 6-1 KSAC-South) to reach double figures.

Tina Lipps added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Brooke Pollock chipped in with 14 points and five rebounds and Courtney Frederick had 12 points, five assists and three rebounds.

Nicole Geyer led East Forest (4-5, 2-4 KSAC-North) with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Ashley Oliver had 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists. But the Lady Bears leading scorer and rebounder Kelsey Rini was plagued with foul trouble and finished with just four points and two rebounds while taking just two shots before fouling out. Oliver also fouled out.

Union used a 22-11 second-quarter advantage to build a 36-22 halftime lead and then outscored East Forest 43-33 in the second half.

Turnovers played a key role, as East Forest had 34 giveaways while Union had only 12.

NOTES – There were 36 fouls called in the game, 23 on each team. That led to 70 free throws, 34 by East Forest and 36 by Union. Neither team shot well from the line with East Forest going 18 of 34 and Union 20 of 36 … East Forest shot 30.5 percent (18 of 59) while Union was at 40.9 percent (27 of 66) … Union outrebounded East Forest 43-34 including 18-13 on the offensive glass.
