HYDE – Streaking Union outscored host Clearfield 12-6 in the fourth quarter to pull out a come-from-behind 49-44 victory in schoolgirl non-conference basketball action Saturday afternoon.

Lepha Logue scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Brooke Pollock came off the bench to add 10 points, as the Golden Damsels, who trailed 30-25 at halftime, won their eighth in a row for a 10-4 record.

The Lady Bisons (4-7) held Tina Lipps to five points, ending her string of double-doubles at 10, but the sophomore pulled down a bakers dozen missed shots helping Union pots a 43-27 rebounding advantage.

Jayme Ryan had eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead Clearfield, who lost at home for the second time in less than 24 hours. The Lady Bisons, who saw a 16-point second-half cushion melt away against St. Marys Friday night, rebounded to play a solid first half in building the 5-point halftime lead.   

Each team had a mini-run in the third quarter, which ended with the Lady Bisons clinging to a 38-37 lead. But Union held Clearfield without a point for more than four minutes in the final period while grabbing a 43-38 advantage.

Clearfield rallied to within 43-41 with 3:50 remaining when Sarah Kovalick hit a 3-pointer. But that was as close as the Lady Bisons got. They managed only three free throws the rest of the way and couldn’t capitalize on the Golden Damsels missing twice in one-and-one trips to the foul line and making only the back end of a pair of two-shot situations.
