CURWENSVILLE - Ridgway remained in the hunt for the Allegheny Mountain
League South Division title by reeling off 11 points in the final 2:13 to defeat Curwensville 43-35 Tuesday night. Bekka Leitzel scored a game-high 19 points, including eight consecutive
free throws down the stretch, to spark the Lady Elkers, who share first place at 3-1 with Brockway. The Lady
Rovers beat DuBois Central Catholic 30-20 Tuesday. Ridgway's 17-12 lead with 5:25 left in the second quarter was the biggest
of the game, but Curwensville scored the next six points to go in front 18-17 at halftime. Tess Bloom opened the third period with her third 3-pointer for the
Lady Tide's biggest advantage, 21-17. After the score was knotted at 21, 23 and 25, the Elkerettes took a
29-27 edge into the fourth quarter. Curwensville, bidding for its first win of the season, got
back-to-back baskets from Jenessa Stiles to lead 34-33 with 2:41 remaining but then went scoreless until Alesia
Bressler banked in two with 22 seconds left. Meanwhile, Leitzel was taking charge and making the Lady Tide pay for
sending her to the foul line. Andrea Redmond had 12 rebounds as Ridgway (4-8) won the battle under
the boards 43-24. Bloom had 13 points and Bressler 10 for Curwensville (0-10, 0-4
