KANE – St. Marys outscored Kane 33-10 in the middle two quarters to get a 55-40 victory over the homestanding Lady Wolves in a non-conference girls’ basketball game matching two teams in the RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com Top 10 Wednesday night.

The No. 4 Lady Dutch (14-1) trailed 11-9 at the end of the first quarter but outscored No. 7 Kane (10-4) 16-4 in the second quarter to take a 25-15 halftime lead. That advantage then grew to 42-31 at the end of the third quarter.

Kayla Hoohuli continued her dominance for St. Marys scoring a game-high 28 points while adding 12 rebounds, five blocked shots, six steals and five assists. The sophomore, who already has 413 points this season, is 38 away from 1,000 in her career. She was the lone St. Marys player in double figures. Tia Cunningham did add six steals to go with five points, while Amanda Simbeck had seven points and Emily Hathorn six points and six rebounds.

Bree Bergman paced Kane with 12 points, including six from the free-throw line, and was the only Lady Wolves player to reach double digits. Natalie Kossack did add eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Bergman is also closing in on 1,000 career points and has 942 points in her career.
