SHINGLEHOUSE – Joe Carson and Orion Bernard teamed up to score 32 points to lead Oswayo Valley to a 53-49 win over visiting Coudersport in North Tier League boys’ basketball action Tuesday night.

The victory is the first for the Green Wave (13-5 overall, 8-3 NTL) over Coudersport (8-10, 5-6) since a 58-56 overtime win a NTL postseason tiebreaker game Feb. 15, 2002, at Port Allegany. It is Oswayo Valley’s first regular-season NTL win over the Falcons since the early 1990s.

Carson netted 17 points while adding eight rebounds, and Bernard chipped in with 15 points, and the duo helped the Green Wave outscored Coudersport 28-18 in the middle two quarters to erase a 20-15 deficit after the first eight minutes.

C.J. Sebastian and Taylor Stanley each had 10 rebounds, and Camden Nolan handed out seven assists for Oswayo valley.

Nate Minor and freshman Tim McCusker led Coudersport with 13 points each with Eric Babcock adding 10 and Josiah Gerhart eight.

NOTES – Oswayo Valley had trouble putting the game away down the stretch hitting only 4 of 10 free throws in crunch time … The Green Wave had 23 rebounds in the second half ... The loss officially ended Coudersport chances for the NTL title. The Falcons had won five straight NTL titles … The win guarantees Oswayo Valley its first winning season since going 20-7 in 2002.
