ST. MARYSSenior Levi Welder couldn’t have scripted it any better scoring his 1,000th point on Senior Night Tuesday while helping St. Marys score a 59-47 D9 League win over visiting Punxsutawney at the “Dutch Oven” in St. Marys.

Punxsy battled back in the second as Tommy Bush had four points leading five Chucks scorers in the frame.  The Chucks grabbed their first lead of the game at 17-14 late in the quarter.  But a three by Greg Simchick and a layup by Justin Quiggle helped the Dutchmen head to the lockerroom at halftime with a 25-19 advantage.

After a defensive third quarter that saw St. Marys narrowly outscore Punxsy 10-8, the Dutchmen pulled away in the final period as Brett Quiggle and Welder took over the game scoring 10 and nine points respectively, as the Dutch would outscore the Chucks 24-19 in the fourth quarter.

Brett Quiggle finished with 10 points, Cogan also added 10 points. Matt Guido ended up with seven points and six assists and Justin Quiggle contributed five points.
