PUNXSUTAWNEY – Tommy Bush hit a 3-pointer with 1:47 left in regulation to force overtime, and Punxsutawney outscored Brookville 13-3 in the extra frame to get a 54-44 D9 League win over the Raiders Saturday at Punxsutawney.

Brookville (3-15 overall, 0-11 D9 League) trailed 38-32 in the fourth quarter before going on a 9-0 run to take a 41-38 lead. But Bush’s triple tied the game at 41 and accounted for the final points of regulation. Punxsutawney (11-8, 6-5), which broke a three-game losing streak, then dominated the extra session scoring almost as many points in the four minutes, 13, as it had in the entire second half, 14.

Brookville led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter and 20-13 in the second quarter before Punxsutawney ended the first half on a 14-2 run to take a 27-22 halftime lead. The Chucks then led 34-31 at the end of three quarters before starting the fourth quarter with a 4-1 spurt.

Bush led all scorers with 19 points while adding six steals, including three in overtime. Corey Beak added 13 points for the Chucks, Dane Kopas had 12 points and three steals and Jacob Stumpf had nine rebounds to go with four points.

Dan Ion paced Brookville with 13 points, while Chad Brocious had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while adding two blocked shots.

NOTES – Despite the win, Punxsutawney has still dropped six of its past eight decisions after starting the year 9-2 … Brookville, which has decided to participate in the District 9 Class AA playoffs, lost for the eighth straight time and for the 14th time in 15 games.
