HYDE - Once-beaten Elk County Catholic outscored Clearfield 27-14 in the middle two periods to extend its winning streak to 13 with a 44-31 victory in D9 League action Tuesday night at Clearfield.

 

Trailing 15-11 with 5:31 left in the first half, the Lady Crusaders went on a 23-3 run spanning almost 12-1/2 minutes for a 34-18 cushion late in the third quarter.

 

Three players accounted for all of ECC's points, Bre Grimone dominating in the low post for 10, Kaitlyn Geci netting seven and Emily Detsch adding six.

 

Grimone ended up with a double-double, 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Geci and Detsch contributed 14 and 10 points respectively, as the first-place Lady Crusaders shot 39.1 percent (18-for-46) and outrebounded the Lady Bisons 33-19 to remain perfect in the league at 10-0. They are 19-1 overall.

 

Annie Janocko was high for Clearfield with 11 points.

 

The Lady Bisons, who shot 35 percent (14-for-40), slipped to 5-5 in the league and 9-9 for the season with the end of their five-game winning streak.
