Schwabenbauer scores 1,000th career point

KNOX – Keystone’s Sam Schwabenbauer became the fifth player school history to score 1,000 career points when she scored nine in a 46-41 upset win over visiting Keystone Wednesday night.

Schwabenbauer, a junior, has 1,001 career points and is the first Lady Panther to hit the mark since all-time leading scorer Brittany Mays did it as a junior in 2002. Mays has 1,743 career points.

Adding 19 rebounds and eight steals, Schwabenbauer helped streaking Keystone (9-9 overall, 7-6 KSAC-South) win for the fourth straight time and for the fifth time in six games while evening its record for the first time since the first weekend of the season.

Union, meanwhile, dropped out of first place in the KSAC-South for the first time all season. The Golden Damsels (12-7. 10-4), who have lost three straight for the first time since early in the 2001-2002 season, are a ˝ game back of Moniteau.

Keystone trailed by nine, 39-30, at the end of three quarters but outscored Union 16-2 in the fourth quarter.

Molly Wise paced the Lady Panthers with 17 points, while Sarah Wilson had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Lepha Logue had 15 points for Union.
