AUSTIN – Austin’s Whitney Crosby scored her 1,000th career point and helped her head coach win his 200th career game in a 60-36 Lady Panther win over visiting Smethport Monday night.
Crosby, who entered the night needing 11 points for 1,000 scored 16 in the game while also handing out eight assists and coming up with five steals. The victory was the 200th career win for Austin head coach Dick Logue, who is 200-191 in 15 years at Austin including 19-2 this season (11-2 NTL).
The eighth player in school history to score 1,000 career points, Crosby is the sixth one to do it this decade for Austin and the first since Rayna Valenti did it last year. She has 1,005 career points.
Cassey Stuckey led Austin with 19 points while adding four steals, and Emily Wambaugh had 11 rebounds to go with three points. Hillary Gordnier chipped in with 11 points.
Alyssa Cunningham led Smethport (2-19, 2-11) with 13 points, while Lauren Stratton added 10.
Austin led by just four, 12-8, at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Hubbers 23-12 in the second quarter and 18-6 in the fourth quarter.
