KANE – One game after setting the school record for career points, Kane’s Bree Bergman hauled down 10 rebounds to become the school’s all-time leading rebounder in a 58-31 Lady Wolves win over visiting DuBois Central Catholic Monday.

Bergman finished with a double-double also scoring 14 points and now has 762 career rebounds bettering the previous mark of 756 set by Crystal Novosel-Johnson, whose career ended in 1997.

Kalie Walter also recorded a double-double for the Lady Wolves (17-5) with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Chelsea Mague added nine points and four assists and Andrea Saquin chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds and five steals.

Miller Hopkins paced DCC with nine points.

The game was tied at eight at the end of the first quarter, but Kane outscored DCC (8-12) 36-13 over the middle two quarters including 19-5 in the third quarter.

“It was a very good game,” Kane head coach Dave Kiehl said. “They were fun to watch. It was a great team win, and a very fitting game for our two seniors, Bree and Chelsea, on Senior Recognition Night.

“All of the girls played very well. Their defense and rebounding was great.”
