Lady Crusaders topple Brockway, J-burg rallies past DCC

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 60, BROCKWAY 48

ST. MARYS – Elk County Catholic used a 17-9 second-quarter advantage to build an 11-point halftime lead on its way to a 60-48 win over Brockway in the AML Girls’ Semifinals Friday night at ECC.

The Lady Crusaders (22-1) led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter but built the lead to 29-18 halftime lead and then played the Lady Rovers (8-14) even in the second half.

Bre Grimone led all scorers with 18 points for ECC, while Emily Detsch added 10 points.

Jalina Sabatose paced Brockway with 13 points, while Sasha Fields added 10 points.

ECC will now face Johnsonburg in the AML Title Game at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Marys High School.

JOHNSONBURG 47, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 35

DUBOIS – Visiting Johnsonburg outscored DuBois Central Catholic 32-10 in the second half to erase a 10-point halftime deficit and get a 47-35 win over the Lady Cardinals in the AML Girls’ Semifinals Friday night.

DCC (8-14) had jumped out to a 25-15 halftime lead thanks to a 15-7 first-quarter advantage. But Johnsonburg (16-7) outscored the Lady Cardinals 16-6 in the third quarter to forge a 31-all tie and then carried that momentum into the fourth quarter outscoring DCC 16-4.

Abby Grumley paced Johnsonburg with 17 points, while Ellie Kocjancic added eight and Bobbi Pritt seven.

Miller Hopkins had 16 points to lead DCC with Elizabeth Heasley adding six.  

Johnsonburg will now face Elk County Catholic in the AML Title Game at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Marys High School.
