SHIPPENVILLE – Just call it mid-January madness. The upcoming week will feature some of the best matchups in District 9 basketball during the regular season in recent memory with six games – five boys and one girls – featuring both teams ranked in the current RRR Roadhouse D9Sports.com District 9 Top 10 overall rankings. Two of those games are non-league boys’ games Monday when No. 1 DuBois Central Catholic (8-1) hosts No. 7 Cameron County (8-1) and No. 2 Keystone (10-1) hosts No. 8 Punxsutawney (7-2). The keystone game is the first of two big matchups during the week for Punxsutawney, as the Chucks will hosts No. 4 St. Marys (7-2) Wednesday in what is the first of two big games for the Dutch. St. Marys will also host No. 3 Clearfield (7-0) Friday in a rematch of a Dec. 20 game won 65-63 by Clearfield. That is the second of two marquee matchups for the Bisons, who host No. 9 Elk County Catholic (8-3) Tuesday. Needless to say, the boys’ overall rankings could have a very different feel to them next week. On the girls’ side, the premier matchup of the week takes place Friday when No. 3 Cranberry (8-2) travels to Tionesta to play No. 2 West Forest (11-0) in a rematch of a Dec. 23 game won 47-44 by West Forest.
