LONG-TIME BROOKVILLE FOOTBALL COACH AL LEFEVRE PASSES AWAY |

BROOKVILLE – Long-time Brookville head football coach Al “Bud” Lefevre, who also coached golf and basketball at the school, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, at Brookville High School. Lefevre, who most recently was the head men’s golf coach at Clarion University, was the head football coach at Brookville from 1968-82. He led the Raiders to Little 10 conference title in 1970 and 1971 and was named the Little 10 Coach of the Year in 1969 and 1970. He also served as both the head and assistant golf coach at Brookville from 1965-99 and was an assistant boys’ basketball coach at the school during his time there as well. During his time as golf coach, he led the Raiders to KSAC title in 1986, 1987 and 1997. He worked at Brookville for more than 35 years. Moving on to Clarion University, Lefevre helped the Golden Eagle men’s golf program to great heights helping the Golden Eagles to PSAC Championships in 2002 and 2005 and runner-up finishes in 2001, 2003, 2004 (Spring) and 2004 (Fall) – the PSAC moved its golf championships from the spring to the fall for the start of the 2004-05 school year. He also helped the Golden Eagles to seven straight NCAA Division II Regional appearances with the 2006 team finishing a school-best second and the 2005 team taking third. He was named PSAC Coach of the year in 2002 and 2006. Lefevre was a 1961 graduate of Tarentum High School outside of Pittsburgh where he was named a first-team Allegheny-Kiski Valley quarterback his senior year as well as first-team WPIAL and Allegheny-Kiski Valley “Back of the Year”. He went on to play football for Clarion graduating in 1965 with a degree in Speech Pathology. A two-year starter for the Golden Eagles he was 46 of 104 passing for 554 yards and three touchdowns in 1963 while also rushing for 61 yards and two touchdowns. He missed his senior season due to an injury but got his start in coaching that year as a student coach. Lefevre then earned his Masters in Elementary Education from Clarion in 1971. Lefevre is survived by his wife Bonnie of Brookville, a son, Scott and his wife, Martha, of Charlotte, N.C., a son Doug and his wife Maria of Washington, D.C. and two grandchildren, Dylan and Morgan of Washington, D.C. Born March 7, 1943, in Tarentum he was the son of the late Alfred L. Lefevre Sr. and Mae Tomer Lefevre. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Tusing. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 10) and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday (Aug. 11) at the McKinney Funeral Home on Main Street (US 322) in Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rose Township, Jefferson County.
