COUDERSPORT – Andrew Mickle scored 20 points to lead Coudersport to a 61-46 win over Smethport in the opening round of the District 9 Class A boys’ basketball playoffs Wednesday night at Coudersport.

The seventh-seeded Falcons (16-7) also got 12 points from Jason Gibson and 10 each from Dave Dupont and Kevin Wolfinger.

Smethport was paced by Kevin Lord’s 20 points, while Josh Vangor chipped in with seven.

The 10^th seeded Hubbers (14-9) led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter but trailed 27-22 at halftime and 44-34 at the end of three quarters.

Coudersport now gets an unexpected home game in the quarterfinals after Clarion-Limestone upset No. 2 North Clarion 51-50 in overtime. The Falcons will host the Lions at 5 p.m. Saturday.
