DUBOIS – Fourth-seeded DuBois Central Catholic outlasted fifth-seeded and visiting Cameron County 71-68 in double overtime Monday night to advance to the District 9 Class A boys’ basketball semifinals.

The Cardinals, who led 34-21 at halftime and 42-25 in the third quarter watched Cameron County fight back over the final 12 minutes of regulation to tie the game at 60 at the end of regulation thanks to a 3-pointer by Chris Barnett, one of four treys in the game by Barnett.

It was DCC’s time for last-second heroics in the first overtime, as Chris Marshall putback of his own missed shot late in the overtime tied the game at 64 forcing a second extra session.

In the second overtime, DCC outscored Cameron County 7-4 to get the win.

Cameron County, which lost 73-41 to DCC Dec. 18, was down six, 50-44 with four minutes left and by five, 55-50, with a minute to go before tying the game on Barnett’s desperation shot.

Then in the first overtime, DCC took the lead at 62-60 before Cameron County scored four straight to go up 64-62 prior to Marshall tying the game.

Marshall had a monster game with 27 points, while Joe McNally added 15 for the Cardinals.

Jason Blose led Cameron County with 21 points, including 10 of 12 from the free-throw line, while Ryan Grimm had 19 and Barnett 15.

DCC will now face Keystone in the semifinals Wednesday at time and place to be determined.
