CLARION – The All American Awards and Engraving Monday Evening Quarterback Show has named the third annual Clarion Hospital Athletic Medicine Program (CHAMP) KSAC Football Postseason Award winners.

The All American Awards & Engraving CHAMP KSAC Postseason Award winners are not affiliated with D9Sports.com. The CHAMP D9Sports.com Postseason Awards will be named later this month.

The CHAMP Postseason Awards and Player of the Week awards are named in conjunction with the All American Awards & Engraving Monday Evening Quarterback Show that is broadcast live from 6-7 p.m. Monday nights from the RRR Roadhouse in the Clarion Mall on C-93, 92.7 FM in Clarion during football season.

Karns City’s Anthony Stimac is the CHAMP KSAC Offensive Players of the Year, while Clarion’s Kevin Grejda was named the CHAMP KSAC Defensive Player of the Year. Clarion’s Brandon Heeter and Punxsutawney’s Logan Weaver were the CHAMP KSAC Co-Rookies of the Year and Clarion’s Ed Conto was the CHAMP KSAC Coach of the Year.

Stimac, a senior, was also named the Co-Offensive Player of the year last year with Redbank Valley’s Jake Smith. Stimac led the Karns City Gremlins to a 12-2 record overall, an 8-1 mark in the KSAC, a District 9 Class AA championship, and Karns City’s first-ever PIAA playoff win with a 32-14 opening round victory over North Star.

Stimac nearly eclipsed the 1,000-1,000 mark for passing and rushing this season, as he ranked 8th in District 9 in passing with 967 yards, including 19 touchdowns and a passer rating of 134.76 and finished 7th in the District with 1,032 yards on the ground on 194 carries (9.8 yards per carry) and 15 touchdowns. In the Gremlins four playoff games, Stimac ran for 452 yards and six touchdowns to go along with six touchdown passes.

Grejda, a junior, had a monster defensive season for the Bobcats, recording 127 tackles (9.8 tackles per game) in helping the fourth ranked defense in District 9 hold opponents to just 12.5 points per game, helping the Bobcats to an 8-5 mark and a trip to the District 9 Class A title game. Grejda also recorded 12 sacks, two interceptions, and four fumbles recoveries.

Weaver, a freshman, had a solid rookie season for Punxsutawney, finishing 5th in District 9 in passing, throwing for 1,184 yards, including a 51% completion percentage (86 of 168). Weaver was also dangerous on the ground, scoring six times and finishing with 409 yards on 89 carries.

Weaver shares the Rookie of the Year award with Clarion freshman Brandon Heeter. Heeter was thrust into the starting role after the Bobcats sophomore quarterback Dan Walters went down with a season ending injury in Week 4 against Punxsutawney. After throwing three interceptions in his first start, a triple overtime loss at Redbank Valley, Heeter notched a rating 142.5 while throwing for seven touchdowns and just one interception. During the Bobcats’ run to the District 9 Class A title game, Heeter completed 65% of his passes (26 of 40) in three games for 322 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Wiser guided the Clarion Bobcats to an 8-5 overall record, a 6-3 KSAC mark. Few expected the success from the Bobcats after back-to-back losing seasons in 2007 (4-6) and 2006 (5-6). However, Wiser, with a solid running game and stiff defense, helped the Bobcats reach the District 9 championship game.
