HASKINS' BIG FOURTH QUARTER HELPS PORT ALLEGANY RALLY PAST AUSTIN
Dec. 27, 2003 - Championship game of Port Allegany Tournament

PORT ALLEGANY – Claude Haskins scored 15 of his team-high 23 points in the fourth quarter, as Port Allegany rallied from a nine-point deficit entering the quarter to gain 70-67 win over Austin in the championship game of the Port Allegany Tournament Saturday night.

Austin had used a 24-14 third quarter run to take the nine-point lead, but Port Allegany outscored the Panthers 21-9 in the fourth quarter to get the win and the tournament title.

"We were sloppy with the ball in the fourth quarter and we not able to hit the open shots," Austin head coach Scott Easton said. "The shots that were falling in the third quarter seemed to rim in and out in the fourth quarter, and Claude Haskins was able to have a great fourth quarter for them."

Port Allegany led 19-14 at the end of one quarter and 35-34 at halftime.

Kyle Dynda had a game-high 32 points to lead Austin, while Matt Valenti chipped in with 11 and Brandon Garzel with 12.

"Kyle had a great game for us adding 12 rebounds for a double-double," Easton said. "Brandon added eight assists for us."

Marcus Petrisek added 13 points for Port Allegany, and Craig Flint had 11.
