DISTRICT 9 BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL TEAMS SET TO START PIAA PLAYOFFS MONDAY

The PIAA has announced sites and times for the state playoff baseball and softball games involving District 9 teams.

In baseball, five District 9 teams will be in action Monday.

Class AAA action will see Punxsutawney taking on West Allegheny at 3:30 p.m. at High Park in Butler.

District 9 Class AA champion Brookville will face Bishop Canevin at 2 p.m. at Berwind Park in St. Marys, and that game will be followed at 4 p.m. by D9 Class A champion Johnsonburg taking on Laurel also at Berwind Park.   

Also in Class A action, D9 third-place team Elk County Catholic will face Springdale at 3 p.m. at Robinson Township, while D9 runner-up Cameron County plays Claysburg at 4 p.m. at Veterans’ Field in Altoona.

PIAA softball action also sees five District 9 teams in action Monday.

In Class AAAA, DuBois plays Latrobe at 4 p.m. at North Allegheny High School.

District 9 Class AAA champion Clearfield tackles Elizabeth Forward at 2 p.m. at Brockway High School, while D9 Class AA title winner Moniteau meets Everett at 4:30 p.m. at Bedford High School.

Two D9 Class A teams will also be playing. D9 champion Curwensville takes on Leechburg at 4 p.m. at Brockway High School, while runner-up Elk County Catholic faces Cambridge Springs at 3 p.m. at Penn State-Behrend.
