TEAM NOTES:
Last year, the Ridgway Elker baseball team could easily have been considered ‘schizophrenic’ as they stumbled through
the regular season with a 4-12 record only to put things together and finish with a respectable 3rd place
finish in the District 9 playoffs going 3-2 and finishing the season at 7-14.
However for the 2nd straight year the Elkers will have a new
skipper at the helm as Mark Morelli takes over for the departed Brian Burford. Morelli who is better known as the Elker
Football coach, has been involved with the Ridgway Little League Program for over 20 years.
With 9 returning letterwinners and 7 starters, Morelli is looking to
stabilize the program as he has brought back veteran coach Jeff Stenta along with Bob Colgan, Justin Burkhouse and Travis
Menteer to assist him.
‘I am very pleased with the way our coaching staff has come together, we
share the same beliefs and philosophy, pitching and fundamentals win games.’ said Morelli, “We have a pretty good
group of talented ballplayers back and I can assure you our team will be a fundamentally sound squad when they take the
field this season. We are looking to get more consistency with the program and to play baseball to our staff’s
expectations.”
