ECC 51, CLEARFIELD 34

Jan. 3, 2007

CLEARFIELD Elk County Catholic used an 11-5 run late in the first half to build a 31-20 halftime lead on its way to a 51-34 win over Clearfield in D9 League action Wednesday night.

The Crusaders (10-0 overall, 3-0 D9 League), who have won 43 straight games, led 15-11 in the second quarter before going on the run to go ahead 26-16 late in the quarter. ECC then built the lead to 31-20 at halftime.

It looked like it was going to be all ECC early with the Crusaders starting the game on a 13-4 run. But Clearfield (6-4, 1-2) clawed it ways back with a 7-2 run that turned out to be the Bisons only real threat in the game.

Jesse Bosnik led ECC with 20points including 11 in the first quarter. He is eight points shy of tying A.J. Straub’s school record of 1,677 and will go for that mark Saturday when the Crusaders visit in-city rival St. Marys.

Josh Salter chipped in with seven points for ECC.

Jarrin Campman led Clearfield with 10 points while Mike Johnson added seven.
