Bosnik becomes ECC's all-time leading scorer |
|
ST. MARYS – There’s a new scoring king at Elk County Catholic. Senior Jesse Bosnik became the all-time scoring leader at ECC (11-0 overall, 4-0 D9 League) when he scored 26 points in the Crusaders 83-64 win at St. Marys (6-7, 2-2) Saturday night. Bosnik entered the game with 1,669 career points eight behind all-time leader A.J. Straub (1,677). He finished the night with 1,695 points. The senior tied the record with 2:35 left in the first quarter when his intended ally-oop pass for Josh Salter was a little long and went into the net for a 3-pointer. He then set the record on a short jumper with three seconds left in the quarter. That jumper gave ECC a 24-13 lead at the end of the first eight minutes. The Crusaders extended the lead to 39-27 by halftime and then outscored St. Marys 27-21 in the third quarter to put the game away. Josh Salter added 18 points for ECC, while Jimmy Higgins chipped in with 13 and Logan Haberberger 12. Kurt Baumgratz led St. Marys with 21 points and Louis Pisani added 20. ELK
