ST. MARYS – Elk County Catholic rebounded from its AML Title game loss to DuBois Central Catholic and tuned up for the District 9 Class A Playoffs with a 74-37 whitewashing of Sheffield Monday night.

The Crusaders (23-2) led 51-14 at halftime and cruised to the win.

Jesse Bosnik had a monster game with 21 points, seven steals, six rebounds and four assists in 10 minutes of playing time. He now has 1,993 career points and needs seven in the Crusaders playoff game Friday with either Rocky Grove or North Clarion Friday night. He would be the fourth boys’ player in D9 history to reach 2,000 points.

ECC didn’t shoot well going 31 of 74 from the floor (41.9 percent), but Sheffield shot worst going 14 of 47 (29.8 percent).

Michael Bryant led Sheffield (4-20) with 10 points and four assists, while Jason Borst added eight points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Ray Jablonski, Jimmy Higgins and Josh Salter each chipped in eight points for ECC.

NOTES – It was Senior Parent Night with the senior basketball players and cheerleader and their parents honored prior to the game.
