BROOKVILLE – Behind an 1-under pay 69 from C.G. Mercatoris Brookville defended its District
9 boys’ golf team title shooting a 227 six shots ahead of second-place Redbank Valley at Pinecrest Country
Club.
Alex Nichman shot a 77 and Michael Fritz an 81 to give the Raiders the 227.
Chase Zamperini led Redbank Valley with a 75, Kevin Doverspike shot a 78 and Jake Bowser an
80.
DuBois Central Catholic was third with a team score of 237 led by a 77 from Drew Nedzinski.
Punxsutawney (240) and Elk County Catholic (241) rounded out the Top 5.
Mercatoris’ 69 also puts him in the lead in the two-day individual tournament, which will be
concluded at Pinecrest Saturday. He holds a 6-shot lead over Redbank’s Zamperini and a 7-shot lead over Elk
County Catholic Kevin Smith and Emily Riddle.
The top eight finishers Saturday will advance to the Regional Tournament Oct. 16.
