KARNS CITY'S TURNER ADDED TO KOZEL ALL-STAR GAME |

DUBOIS – Karns City senior forward Cameron Turner has been added to the ninth annual Alice R. Kozel Foundation District 9 All-Star game roster. Turner, who will be a member of the boys’ White Team, takes the place of DuBois Central Catholic star Dom Varacallo, who will miss the game after having surgery to repair a torn ACL suffered near the end of the regular season. Varacallo played with the injury in the playoffs, and was planning on having surgery after the All-Star game but had the date moved up. “We are very happy that we have been able to replace one outstanding player in Dom Varacallo with another outstanding player in Cameron Turner,” Kozel co-chairman Rich Rhoades said. “In most seasons, Cameron would most likely have been an original pick to the game instead of an alternate choice. But this year’s senior class was very deep and he just missed out being voted in originally. But anytime you can add a player who averaged a double-double during the season to the all-star game, it is a positive. We are looking forward to watching Turner at the game.” Turner was the leading scorer and rebounder for Karns City averaging a double-double (14.5 ppg, 11.2 rpg) while adding 3.5 apg, 2.6 bpg and 3.2 spg. He scored 15 or more points 12 times and 20 or more six times with a high of 28. He finished his career with 821 points, 532 rebounds and 82 blocked shots. The Kozel All-Star games will be played Saturday March 29 at Penn State-DuBois. The girls’ game starts at 4 p.m. followed by the boys’ game at 6 p.m. NOTES – Because Varacallo won’t be playing in the game, a change has also been made in the coaching staff assignments. DCC head coach Mike Nesbit will now coach the Blue Squad, which includes DCC’s Christian Spilman, while Bradford’s Dave Fuhrman will coach on the White Squad. Fuhrman has players on both teams with Ben Lanich playing on the Blue Team and Ryan LaBrozzi on the White squad. KOZEL ALL-STAR GAME ROSTERS ROSTERS BOYS Blue Squad Nick Persing,
